CASE STUDY

Production line for filling cupcakes with two flavours and covering them with chocolate and topping

Inject two different fillings into baked cupcakes. Afterwards, chocolate icing and nut topping are added on top.

✅ The injection and dosing stations are heated.

✅The line is no longer than 5 metres.

✅ A single operator handles the entire production at the start of the conveyor.

NEEDS:

The customer needs a line in which after placing trays of already baked cupcakes at the start, the machines inject two different types of product and add both covering and topping on top. The injection and dosing stations must be heated, the line must not exceed 5 metres in length and can be operated by a single person at the start of the conveyor belt.

SOLUTIONS PROVIDED:

Formex’s proposal is a modular line consisting of four stations:

Two independent automatic injectors.

One automatic dosing machine to dose the chocolate coating on top of the already injected cupcake.

An automatic topping unitto finally spread the desired topping on top of the coating.

As the length of the conveyor belt is limited, a single urn was chosen to keep both the injectors and the dosing machines heated, so that the product is kept at a stable temperature at which the dosing is smooth and trouble-free.

In order for the line to be operated by a single person, a double conveyor belt system is proposed, so that when the tray reaches the end of the upper belt, it is automatically lowered by an elevator to a lower belt that turns in the opposite direction to the first one and moves the trays with the complete product to the start of the line, where the same operator who placed them at the beginning can remove the complete trays.
