The Middle East, a region full of opportunities for F&B processing companies
The relevance of The Middle East
Taking advantage of its participation in the latest Gulfood Manufacturing show, amec alimentec/afespan/aefemec got the opportunity to learn more about the potential of The Middle East market for Food & Beverages processing companies operating in the region.
The economic potential of the area, and particularly that of Saudi Arabia, is undeniable. With about 36 million inhabitants and a growing middle class in this country, the demand for meat products has grown exponentially in the last years. Although 41% of the red meat consumption was imported in 2020, domestic production of red meats keeps increasing steadily year after year, which opens an opportunity window for companies willing to do business or establish in the country.
In addition, since COVID-19, the region is striving to enforce policies addressing Food Security and promoting food processing projects. For instance, the UAE is developing the so-called Foodtech Valley, a technological hub that serves as an attraction pole for Foodtech companies, encouraging investment in the area making the industry advance. Saudi Arabia is also investing in NEOM, a Foodtech business incubator and accelerator.
Gulfood Manufacturing Show
Despite other counterpart shows starting to flourish in the area, Gulfood Manufacturing stays as relevant and important as ever in the EMEA region. The show keeps growing in terms of exhibitors and visitors each year. In fact, it is expected that in the coming edition of 2024, the show increases it exhibiting space.
As usual, amec alimentec/afespan/aefemac was, one more year, in charge of the organization of the Spanish pavilion. A total of 11 Spanish companies from the F&B and packaging industries came together under this space to showcase their latest solutions and innovations: Tavil, Cartobol, Mengibar, Watercut, Ferlo, Roser, Tecaire, Talleres Ramon, Invpack, Hermasa and Bonals.
The role of the organization promoting the image of Spanish Food Technologies and Ingredients is paramount, as the show consolidates as a platform for countries, particularly European ones, to promote their image internationally. So much so, that a great number of European pavilions could be found under the same Hall.
With Gulfood Manufacturing 2024 (5-7 Nov) already on sight, amec is already looking forward to visiting to show next year.
